ABOUT US

Rodgers Greens & Roots Farm is a certified organic farm, located 30 minutes southwest of Atlanta in Douglasville, Georgia, on 64 acres of historic farmland along the Chattahoochee River.

The farm

Currently, 16 acres of flat clay-loam soil are under cultivation using organic practices. The farm’s Owner and Operator, Ashley Rodgers, has been farming in Georgia organically for her entire career. The farm’s growing style is medium-scale, mechanized production: tractors, tools and machinery, however, we are not a big AG farm. Sustainable farming practices are the backbone of Rodgers Greens and Roots: compost, cover crop, and crop rotation. Rodgers Greens and Roots farm is not only a testament to Ashley’s skill at growing greens and roots, but is also named after Ashley’s father, Robert George Rodgers, RGR, who passed away in 2011. At Rodgers Greens and Roots, we strive to build community awareness of local, seasonal, organic food through providing quality ethical certified organic produce to our local community. You can find our produce at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, The Grant Park Farmers Market, Fresh Harvest of Georgia and the Hyatt Regency downtown Atlanta.

THE FARMERS

Ashley Rodgers, Owner & Operator

Ashley has been farming in Georgia for 14 years and is now entering the 8th season as owner & operator of her own farm! Ashley grew up in Michigan and after receiving a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston in Charleston South Carolina  decided to pursue farming as a career.  After 6 years of managing other farms in Georgia, in 2016  and the loss of her father Robert George Rodgers, Ashley decided  to purchase 64 acres in Douglasville Georgia. At only 30 years old Ashley became one of the youngest female organic farm owner and operators in Georgia.  Ashley is thrilled to share her passion of growing local organic vegetables with the local community of Douglasville as well as Metro-Atlanta. As well as growing a family business to honor her father’s entrepreneurial spirit and name. You can learn more about Ashley and her farming practices/beliefs in this lovely blog post from partners Fresh Harvest here!

Growing Practices

We are USDA certified organic which means you can trust the produce that comes of our farm. To us being certified organic is at the back bone of who we are as a farm and a business. We strive to grow and provide all our customers with the freshest healthiest local produce we can offer.

We respect our soil and using Compost , Cover Cropping, and Crop Rotataion techniques. We also use an integrated pest management approach to all our pesky vegetable and fruit pest problems. This means we use a lot of floating row cover and try to keep our spraying to a minimum, always using a OMRI approved product.
